Giuseppe Persia
Giuseppe Persia // Italy
Giuseppe Persia’s photographs seem to represent human bodies or parts of them, in reality it’s the observer who wants to see them. When we observe anything, even a situation, we observe it in an emotional way and that’s why we often let ourselves be deceived. In Giuseppe’s images the element of ambivalence is transformed into a subtle elaboration of the mind that takes us away from reality to lead us into an imaginative labyrinth made up of evocative suggestions and visions. All this is made possible by the reproduction in black and white. The absence of color, in fact, allows more easily a de-contextualisation of the subject, favoring a freer reinterpretation and free from preconceived structures. Here then appear images that must be read following their own emotional level that draws on the areas of the mind and the unconscious. It is about participating in an intuitive game where the elements of rationality and coherence are not valid.
